How I'd describe myself

Outgoing serial entrepreneur and inventor with a social conscience.

Why I became a mentor

I was almost 8 years into my business career before I accepted some help from peers. I thought I could learn more - faster and cheaper - with books. I was wrong. Books and teachers are great, but the one-on-one conversations with peers was worth its weight in gold. I resolved to give back. And I've enjoyed every minute of it.

An ideal relationship to Erik

Is filled with honest open conversations about ideas or challenges.

What are some exciting things you've done?

Flying a plane, diving in the ocean, skiing from mountain tops and mining for gold. Inventing, creating and designing. Winning, placing and just showing up.

What has shaped you the most in your life?

Experiences

What are some exciting things you've done?

Flying a plane, diving in the ocean, skiing from mountain tops and mining for gold. Inventing, creating and designing. Winning, placing and just showing up.

How would your friends describe you?

Decent, considerate, generous and perhaps an introverted A type who is fun to talk to.

If money wasn't an issue, what would you be doing right now?

This is naive as all get out, but I'd buy everyone out of poverty. Poverty is a leading cause of bad outcomes. All kinds of bad outcomes.

What book has left the great impact on your life, and why?

My marketing 101 textbook back in the day. I learned the all important, super critical 5 elements of Marketing: Product, Price, Place, Price and Promotion. All five need to be in place for a business to succeed.

Who would you like to have dinner with?

This could be a long list! I'm game to break bread with any thought leader. In legal/political conversations I'd love to get with Preet Bharara and to talk biz shop talk, I'd say Codie Sanchez. You've probably never heard of either, but they'd be fun dinner conversationalists. And... oh. My Dad who passed away in 2002. I'd love to have another hour with him.
